Our Story
Sangam: a word in the Tamil language meaning "a gathering of learned people for the betterment of society"
The Sangam Foundation of Idaho was started in 2025, by Naga and Radha Chandrasekaran, as a way to give back to the schools of Idaho, through the funding and creation of educational programs that incorporate STEM and fun into various subjects.
Education is the best gift we can give to the next generation, that will empower them to build a better life for themselves and others. STEM education specifically can make our lives, and the environment better and we want to make STEM fun, so that students can and want to apply their learning in a way such that it will improve their lives, their communities, and the world.
Our purpose is built on three pillars, all interconnected and all for the betterment of our students, teachers, schools, and communities::
-
Encourage STEM for all. Assist high school and undergrad students through funding of scholarships, assist teachers by funding innovative and interesting STEM curriculum and clubs, assist schools by funding lab and STEM-related infrastructure.
-
Enable healthy and enjoyable learning. Provide healthy lunch options for K-8 grade students, educate students about healthy food, grow and prepare healthy food, connecting STEM with health.
-
Promote care for the environment. Promote education about the environment, the challenges we face, potential issues and causes and how to mitigate them, as well as renewable energy, climate protection, waste elimination, and circular economy, and support projects that help students learn about and protect the environment.
